What is it with these idiots who slowly get off an escalator and stand right there in front of you - just as you're about to bash into their stupid backs - while they fumble with their purses or cell phones or whatever? Don't they know there are people behind them about to run them over? Perhaps a good jab in the kidneys with my thumbs would move them along. And then there are the idiots who can't seem to take that first step, as if they're going to be dragged down into the apparatus, itself... "Let's see, I'll let one more step go by...no, no, I didn't like that one. I'll wait for the next step to come up. No, no....oh, no - what step is the right one to take?" AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Tue, January 16, 2007 - 6:02 AMI have to admit, I have a hard time getting on them. But as a small child, my shoelace got caught it one and it did drag me down the apparatus itself. Intellectually, I know it won't happen again, but there is almost always that subconscious hesitation.
Ironically, I also had my hand eaten by an elevator door as a kid (I am a walking accident!) AND have also been trapped in one that broke down, but have no problem getting in elevators.
There is no excuse, though, for stopping right after getting off. I have that issue also w/ folks that do that when getting off buses, especially at major stops where you know a million people are getting off!
